Hello and welcome. This is Lesson 1: "Who might you be?"

This is lesson 1. In this lesson you will discover who you are – as a wizard!
Are you the kind of wizard who grows magical plants, turns wood to gold or fights fierce battles in duels? Or maybe something else entirely?

For this lesson you will need a place to write your answers. Make sure it is a document that you save! You don’t want to need it for the rest of the lessons.

Are you ready to begin the lesson? Scroll on down to “Task 1”

Before we begin - Task 0

What is this adventure even about? What are wizards and witches?
Talk with your group first – then your class and teacher about these questions.

  1. What is a wizard or a witch?
  2. What wizards or witches do we already know about?
  3. What is magic?
  4. Why would wizards need a school?

Task 1 - Learn the new vocabulary

You need to describe yourself.
In this task you are introduced to a number of ADJECTIVES and descriptions. You and/or your group first needs to make sure you understand every word. Read through the lists and if any words are unknown to you . you need to use a dictionary to look them up.

Task 3 - Describe your character

Character Creation

Build your wizard and choose:

A name – it can be kind of silly!

Your Age – Are you young or maybe a late bloomer?

Wand Material – what is your magic wand or staff made of? Wood is a safe option.

Your favourite subject in school.

Choose three Personality Traits

Choose two Magical Skills

Choose one Strength

Write your answers in your document. Use full sentences like these:
My name is…
I am …
My wand is made of …
My favorite subject is …
My personality traits are …

My magical skills are …
My strength is …

Task 4 - Build your character

Create your character card.
Download the template, print it out and fill out the blanks.
Lastly you should draw your character on the character card.

Evaluation

Now you all have a character card filled. Now you are ready to meet each other as wizards. Present yourselves to each other using your character cards. Remember that in a wizarding school, we are all very polite.

Use some of these sentences, if you do not know how to speak politely.
1. Pleasure to meet you. I am a wizard and my name is …
2. It is so good to meet you. My name is … and I am a wizard.

Walk around the classroom, and meet random wizards and practice your introduction.

At the end, you will sit at your seats again, and the teacher will ask some of you to introduce yourselves to everyone.
